Ministry to Children - Because Kids Matter
Investing in the future of the church and our community means investing in the children of our church and our community. That is the guiding principle seen by our volunteer leadership in the Children's Ministry at Cross Roads. We don't babysit. We invest our time and resources, knowing that children are the key to our future as a church, as a community, and as a country. Most of all, Jesus said, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven."
On Sundays, this means a fun gathering with skits and music that leads into small group studies in the Word. Kids arrive at 9:15am and are met by loving adult leaders in a large gathering area, where leaders are playing children's praise music and teaching motion to the music. The Department leader then gives a short devotional or skit related to the lesson for the week. In class time children are led in lesson discussions and craft time.
On Wednesdays, the ministry explodes through the AWANA program for ages two through fifth grade. Our children love the games and hearing devotions. And they take seriously the Scripture learning and small group time. We provide a meal for children and their families at 5:00pm before starting the event-filled night of fun and learning at 6:00pm.
